Linkin Park is officially stepping into a new era. The band has announced their return to the stage for the first time since the passing of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017, introducing Emily Armstrong of Dead Sara as their new co-vocalist. The announcement came alongside the release of their first new music in seven years, the single “The Emptiness Machine,” and the reveal of an upcoming album, “From Zero,” due out on November 15, 2024.

The band's “From Zero” World Tour is set to kick off on September 11 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, marking the start of a global trek with stops in New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul, Bogotá, and more. Joining the lineup is Colin Brittain, songwriter and producer for artists like G Flip, who will be stepping in as Linkin Park's new drummer.

In a livestream event, the band premiered “The Emptiness Machine,” giving fans a taste of their new sound. The single has already sparked excitement, as it reflects Linkin Park’s signature blend of heavy and melodic elements, now reinvigorated by Armstrong’s powerful vocals.

“This is a new chapter for us,” the band said in a statement shared via their social media. “Emily brings her own unique energy and voice to the band, and we’re thrilled to have her on board as we move forward.”

Fans had been eagerly awaiting news of the band’s future after a series of cryptic teasers. A countdown video shared on Instagram last week created a frenzy of speculation, with fans wondering if a new album or tour announcement was imminent. The anticipation reached its peak when a second teaser, featuring a distorted countdown, was released with the caption, “It’s only a matter of time…”

The last time Linkin Park took the stage was for a tribute concert to Chester Bennington in October 2017, held just three months after his passing.

Finding the right person to carry the torch alongside Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave Farrell, and Rob Bourdon was a challenging process. The band had previously shared that Bennington’s distinct range and presence made it difficult to envision anyone else filling his role. “We knew we couldn’t just choose anyone; they needed to be special.”

Emily Armstrong, known for her raw, electrifying performances as the frontwoman of Dead Sara, appears to be the perfect fit. Her commanding stage presence and vocal power are expected to complement Linkin Park’s blend of aggression and melody, while also bringing a fresh dynamic to the band’s evolving sound.

With “From Zero” on the horizon and the world tour about to begin, Linkin Park is poised to make their long-awaited return in a big way. Pre-sales for the LP Underground fan club begin on September 6, with general ticket sales opening on September 7.

This new chapter for Linkin Park not only pays homage to the band’s past but promises to propel them forward, blending legacy with innovation. Fans can expect to experience the same emotionally charged performances they’ve come to love, now infused with fresh energy and new beginnings.
