Weezer Celebrates 30th Anniversary of the Blue Album with Massive Super Deluxe Edition
Weezer is set to commemorate the 30th anniversary of their iconic debut, known as the Blue Album, with a special super deluxe edition releasing on November 1st via Geffen/UMe. This anniversary edition will be available in several formats, including a Super Deluxe 4 LP + 10-inch + 7-inch box set, a 3 CD Deluxe set, and digitally.
This edition will feature a remastered version of the Blue Album from the original analog tapes, spread across 180-gram LPs. In total, it will include 50 tracks, of which 36 are unreleased. The set also features previously unheard live recordings, two rare BBC sessions, and tracks from the LMU sessions.
Touted as the most thorough collection of the Blue Album to date, the Super Deluxe Edition will include a remastered version of the original album along with 36 never-before-heard tracks. These unreleased recordings span four 12-inch LPs, a 10-inch EP, and a 7-inch single. Fans will also find eight rare "Kitchen Tape Demos," 22 early rehearsals and live tracks, six BBC radio session recordings, and four songs from the Loyola Marymount University sessions.
Additionally, this deluxe collection will come with exclusive band photos, new liner notes written by Weezer historian Karl Koch, and special packaging featuring "sweater" embossed designs with a functional pullable thread. The set also includes lithographs and other collectible memorabilia.
To give fans a taste, Weezer has already shared the earliest available recording of their hit "Undone - The Sweater Song (Third Practice)."
