Miami Horror Announces “We Always Had Tomorrow” LP.

Miami Horror / John Liwag

November 22, 2024Miami Horror, the acclaimed electronic project led by Australian-born, LA-based producer Benjamin Plant, has announced their highly anticipated new album WE ALWAYS HAD TOMORROW, due February 28th, 2025, via Nettwerk. To celebrate the album news, Miami Horror has shared the captivating new single 'LOST SEASONS' out today.

'LOST SEASONS' explores visual memories of the lost seasons of childhood through a bittersweet melancholy mood. Driven by lush undertones and Plant’s emotive vocals, 'LOST SEASONS' serves as a reminder to cherish one's innocence and remain hopeful for the future. Co-written by Lach Bostock of Mansionair, the track also features a significant collaboration with Grammy-winning producer, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter RAC, who adds his signature touch to the production.

Speaking about the song, Plant shares, "'LOST SEASONS' was a true channelling of the original MH spirit. The chords were so nostalgia drenched, I knew they’d have an important part in the album. We explored themes of childhood and hopefulness for the future, reminiscing on the days we can’t get back. We wanted to transport the listener back a little bit to that period of their life. The chords came early in the album's creation, I then sat on them for a few years wondering in a direction but upon working with RAC we decided to go for an indie anthem. Inspired by the euphoria and harmony of early indie rock but filtered through a modern and more electronic lens. I love the idea of taking the nostalgic emotion and energy from that early 2000s era and putting it into a new context."

The forthcoming album, WE ALWAYS HAD TOMORROW, marks a poignant return for Miami Horror. Emerging nine-years since their last full length, the arrival signals a profound artistic awakening. The reflective, genre-defying new record delves into themes of childhood, coming of age, and the cyclical nature of life. A concept album that transports listeners through time and space, blending the danceable energy of nostalgic samples with atmospheric soundscapes. The album sees Miami Horror collaborating with a myriad of exciting Australian collaborators including Telenova, Tim Ayre, Woodes, Beckah Amani, Ngaiire, and ARIA-nominated producer Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Tate McCrae, The Knocks), amongst other international names like RAC, Robotaki, Ayoni, and more.

Reflecting on the album’s creation, Plant shares, This album began all the way back in 2020. During that time, I was contemplating life a lot…I think we all were. At the same time, I was also learning to play the piano. These two things came together at the right time, setting the melancholic mood and the themes of the album. I wanted to find our own artistic space and approached the album as if it would be my last. And truthfully, you never really know when it will be.”

Leading up to the release of 'LOST SEASONS,' Miami Horror had shared a pair of singles, last month’s 'AURORA / DEAD FLOWERS' and 'TOGETHER' in September. 'AURORA / DEAD FLOWERS' contemplates existence, change, and the natural cycles of life, flowing effortlessly from what Plant recalls as one of the more magical moments of his writing process. Co-produced by Styalz Fuego, 'TOGETHER' is a nostalgic anthem about unity that encapsulates the innocent optimism of childhood. Built around a captivating sample from underground soul legend Errol Stubbs, the track is a vibrant fusion of downtempo disco and indie pop.

'LOST SEASONS,' 'AURORA / DEAD FLOWERS,' and 'TOGETHER' are previews of what to expect on an album that promises to be an enthralling voyage filled with introspection, intrigue, and profound emotion through the lens of sonic innovation and striking creativity.
