ERRA “Cure” Album Tour | The Forum
Walking into the grand entrance of The Forum in Melbourne guided by the sculpted walls and cascading stone staircases on each side, you feel enticed towards the energy of the stage ready for the thrilling night ahead. Although it was a Sunday night, the crowd had shown up, gearing and eager for the unreal performance ready to be put on by the incredible ERRA for their Japan/Australia tour for their album ‘Cure’ which was released in mid 2024 featuring 12 songs and 48 minutes of unbeatable tunes, with the tour including special features from Silent Planet, Resolve and for the Melbourne show, local supports Mirrors. The venue has prolonged its beauty well for its age, with the building being around 95 years old, maintaining a quaint more personal feeling when inside despite being incredibly vast in capacity.

Supported by different bands through each leg of this expansive tour we were incredibly grateful to witness a performance by Mirrors, a Gippsland based metalcore band that was formed in 2016 by the lead vocalist Patty Goodman and Guitarist Tyson Taifer, later expanding the band welcoming in bass player Jack Mackin and drummer Rob Brens. ‘Cold Sanctuary’ was the EP that changed it all, the creative lyrics and culminating tracks made this EP a recipe for success, doing just that, the band took to around the country showcasing their talent and flair. They started off the night playing one of their hit songs ‘Beneath the Sand’ which sits 7th on the bands most played songs on Spotify and concluding their set for the night with their song ‘Rebirth’, both songs featuring on their newer album ‘The Ego’s Weight’. Vocalist Patty serenaded the night away with blissful lyrics and powerful range, along with the potent music being fostered behind his voice, creating the perfect storm for jamming the night away.

The next band to gracefully take over the stage was Resolve, all the way from Lyon, France aiming to savour their journey thus far for their first opportunity in Australia and continuing the energy on for the rest of the tour. The band features vocalist Anthony Diliberto, guitarist Antonin Carré, bassist Robin Mariat and drummer Nathan Mariat. The passion and love for the work exceeds them, oozing out in every song they create and every performance they produce. During their time in Melbourne, they opened their performance with the lead track ‘Human’ from their album ‘Human’ released in 2023, really setting the tone for the ongoing gig. They also played another song from the same album titled ‘Older Days’, in which the band went on to reminisce and express how grateful they felt for the opportunities they’ve received, stating Australia has been their favourite country thus far in the tour.
Following closely together with ERRA over the years is Silent Planet, they have been travelling along tour to tour with them on and off since way back to when both bands began in 2009. Hailing from Azusa, California they had their fair distance to travel but it all seemed worth it, they showcased their incredible talent and devotion to their music across the globe to the loyal and eager fans and metalheads alike. The band consisting of vocalist Garrett Russell, Bassist Nick Pocock, drummer Alex Camarena and guitarist Mitchell Stark played many songs with a vast array of vocals and sounds, including the use of a sound board for certain songs typically operated by Mitchell Stark whilst also manning the Guitar. The first three songs they played consisted of two of my personal favourites ‘Antimatter’ and ‘Collider’ both included on their most recent album released back in 2023 titled ‘Superbloom’.

They put on quite the show with matching background graphics to match each song or album they were connected to playing at the time, this paired with a scarcity of stage lights set the mood making the room feel like more of an intimate performance within the bustling atmosphere. Garrett Russell showed incredible vocal endurance, during the 45-minute set, he included countless intros and outros of both singing and speaking only further showcasing his love for his art.

The ERRA world tour started in 2024 starting off in North America touring with a brilliant and artistically incredible band I’ve had the pleasure to review before, Void of Vision, along with the Novelists. The band forming in 2009, they’ve had quite the journey thus far, the progressive band consists of members J.T. Cavey as main vocals, Clint Tustin on guitar, Jesse Cash on guitar and vocals, Conor Hesse on bass and Alex Ballew on drums. Following the North American tour, they then went around completing the United Kingdom and Europe leg with different features from around the globe and coming back to America to finish off at the end of 2024. The tour picked back up again on the 1st of March 2025 in Japan and then proceeded to Australia, where they will be supported by Silent Planet and resolve in all their Australia stops.
ERRA have had a longstanding history touring with Silent Planet only making this tour all the more special having many other incredible artists alongside to accompany them. The light show set up was a performance all on its own keeping up with the music and the beat it was especially highlighted following Silent Planets lighting previous to this. The so-called last song of the night was ‘Snowblood’ from the hit album ‘ERRA’, although the rowdy crowd demanded an encore, leading to three more songs and a beloved mini speech, one of the songs included ‘Rebirth’ from one of the bands earliest albums ‘Augments’ finishing the night on just as strong of a note as it began and leaving the hungry fans more than satisfied.
Overall, the night was one to remember, the room oozing with raw talent and pure passion, having been to a few gigs so far whilst doing reviews, this was definitely an unforgettable night. The tour still has a few more stops before concluding, I can only assume that these future shows will be just as energetic and enthralling as the night that erupted in the forum. Keep an eye out for all four of these incredible bands for future tours and artful music as there is only up from here.
